What
are the methods of payment?
When making a reservation either a deposit
or credit card number is required to guarantee the reservation.
1. You
can use the online booking system to check availability and reserve
your place at The Valley House:
Instant Online Reservations
In this case you use your credit card to reserve and pay a deposit through
the Hostelworld.com booking engine. Over 250,000 people every month
make bookings through this secure online service. You can pay us the
remainder of your accommodation charge on arrival either by cash or
credit card, whichever you prefer.
If there is no availability online, then
please
or telephone us on +353-98-47204 as we may have a small number
of beds available offline for your dates.
Please note for this method of booking that a 10% deposit in your currency
will be charged to your credit card, as well as a USD$2.00 service fee.
Please read the Terms and Conditions on the booking page.
2. You can telephone
us with your credit card details and we will enter the booking
for you (Mastercard and Visa, debit cards such as Laser and Switch are
accepted). Your details are held in a secure password protected database.
There are no booking charges and your card will not be charged before
your arrival. You can pay by cash or credit card when you arrive.
3. Payments can also be made by Irish cheque or by bank transfer:
for more information if you wish to use this option.
Is breakfast
included in the price?
Breakfast is not included, so please do bring food with you and you
can use our kitchen facilities and large dining room to prepare and
eat your meals. In the high season (July to early-September), we provide
a delicious range of hot dishes, panini's and salads in our bar from
noon-8pm. All year round we serve coffee and tea in the bar - Choose
from our Illy coffee menu, try a delicious hot chocolate or various
breakfast and herbal teas.
Is bed linen
provided?
Bed sheets, pillows and duvets are provided. In the interests of hygiene,
please do not bring sleeping bags onto the beds in the hostel.
Do you provide towels and shampoo and soap?
You should bring your own towels and toiletries.
What are the
check in and check out times?
Check-in: not before 3pm
Check-out: 11am
Is there a curfew?
Ha ha - No!
:-)
Can I leave my
luggage and valuables in a safe place?
Ask a member of staff and they will put your luggage away safely. If
you have valuable items or cash that you want put away in a safe, we
can do that for you. The Valley House is not responsible for loss, damage
or theft of any personal property or cash on the premises or in the
grounds.
Are the rooms
ensuite?
None of our rooms are ensuite - there are private shower cubicles and
toilets near the rooms.
Can I book a
room for females only?
We generally try to keep at least one dorm for females only,
but in very busy times this cannot always be guaranteed. Please make
a request at time of booking and we will do our best to help you with
that.
What is the difference
between a Twin and Double room?
A twin room contains two single beds.
A double room has one Queen-size bed.
Can I bring my
children?
Children and family groups are very welcome at The Valley House. However,
please note that children are not allowed in dormitories with other
guests so family groups either need to book private rooms or need to
reserve a whole dormitory for their group.
Can I bring my
dog or other pets?
Unfortunately we cannot allow dogs and other pets inside the hostel.
But if you want to bring your dog or pet and they can sleep outside
in your car or van, that is ok with us.
Do I have to
be a member of a hostel organisation?
No. The Valley House is an independent hostel and there are no
membership fees or cards involved.
Is smoking allowed
in the hostel?
Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the hostel or in the bar - sorry,
Irish law doesn't allow it! But you can smoke just outside the bar,
and anywhere else outside and in the courtyard. Please use the ashtrays
- picking up butts from cobblestones is a time-consuming job!
Do you accept
Group Bookings?
We are very happy to accept group bookings of 10 or more people and
have many years of experience in dealing with groups of all sizes and
ages. However, please note we do not accept Stag and Hen parties at
any time. Any stag or hen groups booking under false pretences will
be asked to leave the hostel immediately and will be charged for any
nights already stayed and at least the first nights stay.
What is the Cancellation
Policy?
Individual
Cancellation Policy:
Your reservation will be held until 6pm on date of arrival (if you are
arriving later in the evening, please phone or email to let us know
- late night arrivals are no problem!). If you need to cancel the booking,
please do so no later than 24 hours prior to arrival. If less than 24
hours notice of cancellation is given, we reserve the right to charge
your credit card for the first nights stay. In the event of a "no-show",
your credit card will be charged for the first night of your booking.
For minimum length of stay reservations (e.g. bank holiday weekends)
you will be charged for the entire reserved stay if you check out prior
to the reserved departure date.
Group Bookings Cancellation Policy:
Group bookings require a pre-payment of one-third of the total amount
of the booking. Any cancellations must be made in writing by post or
e-mail at least one week prior to the groups arrival. A full refund
of the deposit will be given if a cancellation is made 7 or more days
from the arrival date. Cancellations made less than one week before
arrival date will forfeit their deposit. For minimum length of stay
reservations (e.g. bank holiday weekends) you will be charged for the
entire reserved stay if you check out prior to the reserved departure
date.
Is there an age
limit?
There are no age limits at The Valley House - so if you are a little
baby or Methuseleh himself, you are very welcome!
Is parking included?
You can park for free outside the hostel or in an extended car
park adjacent to the hostel.
Are there barbeque
facilities?
We have a large gas barbeque in our courtyard which you can use. There
is no charge for it's use but please do give us some notice so that
we can set it up for you. The only condition on using the barbeque is
that you clean it when you are finished with it... yes, that's right,
scrub those metal racks, scrub scrub!
